Susan Jones – Writer

My Writing Blog

Susan Jones writes romantic drama with a touch of humour, and historical sagas as Lydia King. She lives in North Warwickshire, and loves walking through the beautiful woodlands where she lives, and gardening and reading are her pastimes.

End of the year, and time to check how the year has been.

I finished the midlands saga, and sent it off to first agent, who wanted to read the whole story. Liked it but didn’t want to take it any further. So same again, try and try again is the motto for getting an agent and publisher for your story. Thing is, getting an agent is only the start of it, then you might wait longer for a deal from you publisher of choice. Am I disappointed? Not overly as there would still be lots of hard work, and people who know better always seem to want me to rewrite the whole story in a different time zone. This one is at the start of WW1, and my hero is off to war leaving his lover, Molly to run his hatting business while he’s away.

Now I have decided to independently publish, as the style of my life would suit this better now I feel. I want to write more midland sagas, and also keep doing the romantic humour chick lit style that was the way the pocket novels were going, but keeping to the longer stories. I’ll be needing some ARC readers. advanced reader copy for anyone who might like to pre read, and if they like it leave a review, but I’ll be setting that up in the new year, and hope to get Pride of Paradise Lane out by the end of January, early February.

For a glimpse of my poetry doodling, it’s’ here… Remember to leave a review please if you like it, and I do know I need to put the ? in front of the ” this is the first thing I sent to kindle, 10 years ago!!! Blimey doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun.

Enjoy the Christmas break, and do what you love doing best, with the ones you love.
