Susan Jones – Writer

My Writing Blog

Susan Jones writes romantic drama with a touch of humour, and historical sagas as Lydia King. She lives in North Warwickshire, and loves walking through the beautiful woodlands where she lives, and gardening and reading are her pastimes.

I started back at the gym this week. On Wednesday morning and again this morning, I went on the rowing machine, treadmill, bike and then the cross-trainer. After that mat excercises and stretches to cool down. I’m lucky to have a personal trainer, who says, no do those planks for a bit longer, and no, not like that, like this. Next week I might swim to mix it up a bit.

gym pictureThat’s not the story. I came home to find out that I’d won Morgen Bailey’s challenge to give the words for a story prompt. What she did with the words is lovely. Exactly the kind of story I had in mind. Details are here.

You can read all three stories here… How lovely to have a prize of 5,000 words edited.

Now I’m working on chapter 3 of Another Year in Redington. Being in Norfolk, they’re talking about the whales and how tragic it is that they’ve been washed up on the coast.

Have a great weekend, and if you want to read the opening of Redington, you can find it here on Amazon.

Thanks to all who have already downloaded or bought it.

Hi, Bea. It is a good story isn’t it? Morgen has a talent for it.

Thanks, Rosemary. I’ve had a soak in the bath as I do a couple of cleaning jobs that go on a bit today. I’ll let you know if I’m creaking or aching tomorrow. I intend to keep it up though. Soon be time to wear nice summer clothes and I need to tone up a bit. Yes, I’m thrilled to have won and looking forward to the editing help.

Congratulations for winning. Good too that the story was written the way you intended. I think this would work well for homework for our group, so thanks for the idea.

Glad it was useful to you, Maggie. It is a good idea and good to see how someone else interprets the words. Which reminds me, there’s a comp on Helen’s blog using a selection of words as well.

Congratulations, Susan. I saw your name on Morgen’s post (and met the lady herself on Thursday night).

How wonderful to live near to Morgen and meet her, Julia. I’ve recently joined her group on facebook as well. So much useful stuff on there, we’d be daft not to. Glad you popped in.

It is, Jan. I’m looking forward to it as I sure need it. Ha ha. I should be working on chapter 3 of the next Redington book, but I’m fiddling and trying to put my website on wordpress with my blog. You look great in that rugby shirt by the way.

I feel exhausted just reading about your exercise regime! You must be so fit – as well as glamorous!

Oh, ha ha, Linda. I’m not really either, but it’s great fun.
