A story set in the Black Country, at the start of WW1 – Molly Marsden is being left in charge of the Bloxwich and Walsall Hat Company, while the man she loves is going off to fight for his country.

She isn’t happy, as they’ve worked side by side for the best part of the last ten years. He knows it’s what he has to do, and tells her she’ll be fine. He doesn’t bank on her being a target for sleazy characters who are waiting to take advantage of her being a woman on her own. Her Aunt Violet and younger Sister Janey, depend on her earnings to keep the family afloat. Who can she turn to when the going gets tough, and will Issac come home in one piece and be by her side once more, like she always wanted.
