Susan Jones – Writer

My Writing Blog

Susan Jones writes romantic drama with a touch of humour, and historical sagas as Lydia King. She lives in North Warwickshire, and loves walking through the beautiful woodlands where she lives, and gardening and reading are her pastimes.

As you know, I love poetry, and have my Morning Walk poem in the Spring issue of Kindred Spirit magazine. Here’s another poem that you will find in my pamphlet Suzy Doodling, a book of poems on my author page. Poetry Book

There’s a mixture in there, as I used to write about anything and everything, then jot it into a poem. Some are more structured than others. Like the tectactrys of Snowdrops. It’s the formula of syllables, going from 1,2,3,4,10 then 10,4,3,2,1 so the finished poem has a diamond shape. Here’s one from the booklet. I talk about this on my YouTube channel as well @Fromthewritingdesk

Once

upon

a time there

was a dancer

she waltzed around the clusters of snowdrops

Singing magic melodies to springtime

it’s here my friends

come out and

play with

me

And, I have a publication day for my Black Country saga. On 7th March, it will be available to order from Amazon. Just keep an eye on my Facebook page for more information, and a great giveaway.

Now I can plan book 8, which is set in more recent times. This is 7,000 words in so far up to chapter 4.

Well done on the poem, Sue!

It can be difficult to find markets for poems, even non- paying ones, so that’s a good achievement. Why not write some more for them?

Hello Sharon, glad you told me about the blip and eventually found my website. Yes, I used to subscribe to a pamphlet called Rubies in the dark, and I had poems in Acumen magazine. It’s so very niche, but I put all mine together way back when I didn’t have a clue about self publishing, so I need to update my poetry book. I was thrilled to have one in kindred spirit, and they link to our website, so all good. They got my instagram name wrong, but it’s out there now, so never mind. One out of two is alright. Yes I might try articles as well as I read the tarot and use crystals and palmistry as well. xx Great to see you here. xx
